New district website takes a giant leap forward

Long ago we had given up on the district website.
Too many fish to fry; not enough fry pans for the lot.

But it was awful.  No...actually it was something that aspired to one day be awful.  It was amateur (and that's being kind).  The frames overlapped and you couldn't read text.

But after a rather major effort (we cringe at the ultimate cost...)....the new website (which we'll dub as version 2.0) is complete and is a HUGE improvement.  The quality is now on par with our similar-size district peers.

Yes....things are in different places, and you'll have to re-discover them.  It doesn't appear that "re-direct" have been created.

Version 2.1 needs to include more "accessibility" features.  A larger font size would be better.  It's still a work n progress as pages get populated.

But, you WILL like the look and quality.  Try it.

Has Anyone Seen the District Annual Report?

The annual elector's meeting is scheduled for next Monday October 13 at 7:00 pm in the high school auditorium. But how would you know? Unless you noticed the little blurb in the STAR, or obtained the school board's meeting packet, or listened (yawn!) through the entire school board meeting to catch "upcoming meeting announcements".

One week away and no annual report. Certainly not on the website...or even listed as a meeting!

THIS is how the board expresses its fervent desire for community involvement?
By minimizing publicity of the annual elector's meeting? The annual meeting report booklet SHOULD have been posted by now on the website, and the elector's meeting should have been announced as an upcoming meeting for several weeks as well.

But....perhaps the board would rather you not know????

They sure have got their referendum propaganda machine in full working order...more than 30 days in advance of THAT key date. I'm certain that you could drop by the district office and, upon request, obtain a copy of the report. But you'd have to go to those lengths to get one.

The above screen shots are of the school district website as of this weekend. Maybe this posting will prompt some action.

Where have all the files gone?

Where have all the documents gone?
for some time missing
Where have all the documents gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the documents gone?
The board has hid them every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

[SP-EYE...with deep apologies to Pete Seeger]

Interested in reviewing information generated during the Boundary Wars? The high school planning process? Minutes of previous school board meetings? School board policies? Forget it.

The school district website has a page entitled, Search our Policies". But don't bother, because this directory appears to have been stripped of all information for several weeks now. Theoretically, once can even (and used to be able to) click on the "Browse Documents" tab and review all available documents.

Go ahead and try it. We've tried searching on common terms like "board", "minutes", "school", "high school", and "boundary"....words that surely should have resulted in at least one document. Sadly, searches resulted in: "Sorry, no matching documents were found".

We have approved funds for more electronic file storage space, more technology, and to develop a committee to "engage the public". And what have we received for all this? The removal of critical PUBLIC information that community residents may like to--and are entitled to-- review.

So...why has everything been pulled from the website??? Is it to make things more difficult for those that are investigating BS (Board Shenanigans)??? Hmmm...let's see....if someone wants that information, they'll have to request it and then come down to the district office to pick it up. That'll reduce the number of people interested in looking under the hood of the school board engine!!!
