At last night's school board "Work/Study" session, a community resident attempted to make a comment.
Board President JohnE Whalen looked typically perplexed and then half stammered something along the lines of "Um...this is a work-study meeting...we can't take public comment".
...and Vice-President Jim McCourt was solidly backing him up on that.
Mr. President...could you please point us to Administrative Code or Statute that bars you from accepting public input at ANY meeting?
Nevermind...don't go to the trouble looking it up, JohnE. You won't find it. Because there is no such law. It's a matter of choices. You can CHOOSE to accept public comment...or NOT.
No Can't about it, John.
We understand...you WON'T accept public comment.
You and the board are pretty well stocked in the WON'T department. As in:
You WON'T deal with grade inflation,
You WON'T address the growing poverty rates in schools.
You WON'T focus your cutting shears on administration.
You WON'T accept public comment at work-study sessions.
You WON'T even admit when you're wrong.
